Junior Associates
The Junior Associates programme is designed to nurture the next generation of New Zealand dancers. We are looking for a small number of exceptionally talented young students aged 13 - 15, who show a natural potential for classical and/or contemporary dance training.
The aim of the programme is to provide complementary training whilst pupils continue to study with their own dance teacher. It is intended for those dancers who are considering auditioning for fulltime training at the New Zealand School of Dance.
Classes are provided over four weekends a year for the Junior Associates, who travel from all over New Zealand to participate in the programme. Special boys' technique classes are provided. Associates are appraised throughout the year by Staff, Teachers and Head of the Junior Associates Programme as to their suitability for further training.
Where possible, the Junior Associates enjoy an active relationship with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, including master-classes with the Company when they are on tour. Additionally, Junior Associates are offered a partial scholarship to attend the annual New Zealand School of Dance Winter School.
Fees
All classes provided within the Junior Associates Programme are free of charge, but those living further away need to consider transportation and accomodation costs.
How to apply
Selection to the Junior Associates programme is by audition only.
Applications for entry in 2011 are now being received. Applications must be sent before 30 July 2010.

All students auditioning for entry in 2011 must be entering at least Year 9 (Form 3) at the beginning of the 2011 academic year.
N.B. Current Junior Associates do not need to re-audition for the programme, however those wishing to enter full-time training are required to attend the full-time audition.

MASTER CLASSES
In conjunction with the Junior Associate audition tour, the New Zealand School of Dance invites dance students from Year 11 upwards to attend two Masterclasses with renowned faculty members.
