Café and Common Room
New Zealand School of Dance students spend a lot of time at School, so it’s important to have an area for relaxing and eating.
The student common room and kitchen facilities are shared with students from Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School and are adjacent to the onsite café, The Hatch.
The Hatch is situated next to the student common room and caters to the dietary needs of the dance students. A sample menu could include:
- Vege noodle stirfry
- Sushi (vege or chicken/avocado)
- Sandwiches (salad or salad/meat)
- Nut & raisin bags
- Paninis
- Fresh daily salads
- Calzone
- Fritter/roast vegetable stacks
- Foccacia with filling
- Enchiladas
- Soup
- Muesli and yoghurt
- Fruit
- Quiche
- Muffins
- Scones
- Coffee/tea/juice/water
The Hatch is open from 9.00am to 3.00pm every weekday.
The common room is also equipped with a number of computer terminals with internet access readily available to the students.
Students are provided with free tea and coffee and there is a microwave, sink, water heater, fridge and oven available in the kitchen.
As well as a place for the students to unwind the common room is sometimes used for rehearsals, cabaret shows and other improvised projects.
